Starved Rock
Thank you all for that gift cerificate you gave me for Starved Rock a couple of years ago. Karen and I finally used it the weekend before last, to stay in a cabin there. We had a wonderful time; after the heavy snowfall Friday night we awoke to the park clothed in dazzling white, the trees starkly outlined by Saturday morning’s cloudless sky. A still and crisp day that Grandpa Dohms would have noted as “Brilliant” in his diary. Sunday was different; overcast and foggy, and very quiet along the Illinois River where the bald eagles winter.
